COVID-19 Cooper Norman Response

Dear Clients and Friends,

As the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic evolves, we want to let you know that Cooper Norman continues to closely monitor and actively respond to recent developments.  National and local governments, schools and universities, churches, and other large organizations have already taken significate steps to follow recommendations from the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and OSHA.  It’s now time for the public sector to do our part.

The safety and well-being of our staff, colleagues, and clients, along with our ability to ensure continuity of the best possible service to you, are our top priorities.  Much is unknown about the spread of COVID-19 which creates some unique challenges, interrupting lives and regular routines.  We want to be part of the solution to this unique challenge.  Effective immediately we at Cooper Norman are making the following temporary adjustments in our business practice.

Sickness – We are encouraging our people to stay home when they are sick and to seek good medical advice.

Social Distancing – We are encouraging our people to avoid large gatherings for internal and external meetings.  We are also asking them to minimize all internal and external in-person meetings.  To the extent possible, we are asking our people to use phones, emails, texts, and videoconferencing.  Our videoconference technology is state of the art and will be used whenever possible.  We are also taking steps to ensure that those who visit our offices align with the guidelines put in place for our own people.  With our current technology, the majority of our deliverables are stored and are accessible by the internet, eliminating the necessity to come to the office.  Required signatures can be done electronically.  Relationships are very important to us and we enjoy the deep level of connection that in-person meetings bring.  In light of the current circumstance, we feel it is prudent to limit in-person meetings until such time that health officials tell the public it is safe to do so.

Travel – We have asked all personnel to avoid all non-essential business travel.  If any of our people do travel we are asking them to follow all guidelines and instructions published by the CDC.

Remote Working – Our Firm uses state of the art technology which allows our people to access our systems with the same levels of security and availability as they would from inside the office.  Currently, all of our people work remotely at various degrees.  A few positions and responsibilities in our Firm are best preformed on-site from inside the office.  For our people that can effectively do their job remotely, they have been given the option of doing so.  Our office will be open but our on-site people may be limited.

Office Closure – Should conditions worsen and dictate the closure of our offices, our staff will all work remotely.  As stated, we are fully prepared to work remotely with minimal interruption, ensuring that we are able to continue to provide the highest level of service.

Business Continuity – We are very mindful that you are faced with the same disruptions and unchartered challenges in your business. We will continue to work collaboratively so we can adhere to any particular procedures required by you, and will closely monitor the situation and evaluate our measures to support you.

As a result of these temporary adjustments, you may experience a delay in our services.  In due time this unique challenge will pass and we will resume our normal business practices.  We sincerely thank our valued clients and colleagues for your cooperation and understanding.
