J. David Stoddard is a consultant and retired partner with the certified public accounting firm of Cooper Norman. He founded the Idaho Falls office of the Firm and served as its Partner in Charge for thirteen years. He graduated with a master’s degree in accounting with a specialization in taxation from Utah State University in 1981.
Prior to joining Cooper Norman in 1981, Dave worked for a local CPA firm in Utah. He is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Dave maintains professional affiliation with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Idaho Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
As a senior tax advisor and a former head of the tax division of the firm, Dave practices primarily in the areas of advanced taxation and business consulting. He has extensive experience in the areas of litigation support, employee benefit plans, estate planning, and business valuations including numerous transactions related to buy/sell agreements, mergers, acquisitions and marital dissolutions.
Dealing effectively with the Internal Revenue Service is also part of Dave’s professional reputation. In addition, he has owned interests in several businesses. He understands business both as a consultant and as an owner.
