Karl grew up in a small town in South East Idaho, near Bear Lake, called Dingle. He grew up with horses used for both ranching and rodeo. Tie down roping is his favorite event to participate in. He served a 2 year church mission in Brazil before attending Utah State University. While going to school at USU Karl worked in construction as a house framer and then as a bookkeeper for a real estate developer. While in Logan he met his wife Laura. They have been married since 2003 and have 3 daughters. He moved to Buhl in 2007 in order to have land for his animals, and a short commute to Twin Falls so he could further his experiences in accounting working for Cooper Norman.
